Glenn BAHR – preliminary hearing in Edmonton
Court File #050024363P1-01-001
Edmonton Police File #04-58870

The preliminary hearing into the willful promotion of hatred charge against Glenn David Bahr under s. 319(2) of the Criminal Code began Monday, 23 January 2006 and was adjourned on Friday, 27 January 2006. The charge is the result of Internet hate propaganda that appeared on US neo-Nazi forum Stormfront and the website of the now-defunct group that Bahr led in 2004 called ‘Western Canada For Us.

During the first week of hearing, the Crown completed the direct examination of Sgt. Stephen Camp, former member of the Edmonton Police Hate Crimes Unit. The lawyer for the defendant began, but did not finish the cross-examination. In attendance were Nathan Touchette (pseudonym Canadian Aryan on Stormfront) and a couple of others including a few elderly, German-speaking individuals.

The preliminary hearing will continue on Monday, 2 October 2006. In the interim Bahr is under strict release conditions including non-use of the Internet.
