Why are Sikhs targeted by anti-Muslim extremists?

"It's a common thing," says Balvinder Kaur Saund, a Labour councillor for the London Borough of Redbridge and chair of the Sikh Women's Alliance, "to walk through an estate in [some parts of east London] and young boys throw stones and shout 'Taliban' at you. I have seen that myself." She was once with a man – a Sikh who wore a turban – when some youths shouted "Osama" at him. "I wanted to retaliate but he said 'Just ignore it and carry on walking'." She thinks many more incidents go unreported.

Sikh temple shooter was former U.S. Army specialist, 'frustrated neo-Nazi'

The gunman who killed six people at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin before being shot to death by police was identified Monday as a 40-year-old Army veteran and former leader of a white supremacist heavy metal band.

Wade Michael Page strode into the temple carrying a 9mm handgun and multiple magazines of ammunition and opened fire without saying a word, authorities said.
